Job Description


Due to continued growth, we are seeking a graduate or junior programmer, ideally with industry experience to join our team based in Sheffield.  The Automation Tester will be coached and lead by our Automation Lead.   The role Automation Tester will be responsible for delivering high quality, reliable automation tests to support the Delivery function within Epos Now.  The Tester will be responsible for taking test from a defined backlog and automating them. The Tester will be responsible for producing, executing and reporting on automation test runs.  The automation Tester will contribute to the ongoing improvement of the test automation artifacts (automation).



  • To produce automated tests from a defined backlog set by the Automation and Manual Test Lead

  • Ensure tests produced are of the quality desired and reliable

  • Peer review others automated tests

  • Maintain the existing test suite, ensuring changes in software are reflected in the automation tests

  • Tests produced to standards set by the Automation Lead

  • Peer Reviews performed

  • Tests checked into code and run nightly

  • Execute automation tests

  • To execute automation tests on test systems specified

  • To support self service test execution within the team

  • To review test runs, triage issues seen and ensure defects are raised

  • Tests Executed as required

  • Failures reviewed/acted upon

  • Low number of false positive defects

  • Defects found are actual code issues

  • Report on automation tests

  • To report on test runs, both informal and formal

  • Reports produced on demand to stakeholders as required

  • Feed into Automation Improvements

  • To feed into the constant improvement strategy for test automation

  • To feed into improvements for efficiencies and ease of maintenance in test automation scripts

  • Test Automation assets are under review and changes are made to improve delivery

  • Decrease in false positive reports

  • To apply all skills to deliver any other accountabilities as required by the organisation

  • To suggest process, systems and service improvements

Person Profile:

The right person for this role will have:

  • The right person can be a graduate with a strong background in development within Java who wishes to learn and pursue a career in automation testing

  • The right person may also have industry experience of experience of developing automation tests with JAVA and Selenium


The following will be expected:

  • Basic understanding of using test automation frameworks.   E.G: Maven, TestNG

  • Basic experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins Desired.

  • Experience in producing high quality, reliable automated tests.  

  • Experience in executing tests from Agile Frameworks

  • Experience in reporting on automation tests

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, ever changing environment

  • Logical and analytical approach to problem solving

  • A diverse interest and passion for technology

  • Excellent communication skills

  • ISTQB Foundation desired


Training Offered:

  • Appropriate training will be provided to support.  This will be appropriate to the successful candidates needs.
