In this month's partner spotlight we meet Swipii, the UK's number one digital loyalty and marketing platform for bricks and mortar businesses.

Epos Now's Swipii integration empowers your business with a valuable database of customer information, improving customer retention through targeted marketing which increases spend per head.

Partner Spotlight: Swipii

Who are Swipii?

Swipii is the UK’s #1 Customer Loyalty and Marketing CRM suite built for small and medium businesses. Swipii allows brick and mortar businesses to grow repeat customer visits, increase average customer spend and grow business revenue through the use of a digital customer loyalty platform.

Unlike other digital loyalty platform, Swipii is a managed service run by marketing experts that analyze customer purchase data and create tailored campaigns to meet the needs of each individual business. Swipii has 2000+ merchants and 2 million+ users in the UK and we’re growing every day!

Where are you based?

The Swipii HQ is based in Glasgow, with our platform being utilised by brick and mortar stores across the UK. We are currently working towards launching Swipii in France by the end of 2017 which is very exciting for us!

What is your business and how did it start?

Swipii works with thousands of brick and mortar businesses, including barber shops, beauty salons and coffee shops in the UK. These businesses often suffer from poor levels of customer data collection due to a lack of time and resources, which leads to the secondary problem of no follow-up communication to help increase repeat visits and drive customer loyalty.

Swipii enables stores to collect their valuable customer data in a secure and fun way by encouraging customers to scan their Swipii loyalty card or app when they make a purchase to collect points and redeem rewards. Our marketing experts create email campaigns based on the data, incentivising lagging customers to visit the store - building brand loyalty. Our research has found that customer visits increase by as much as 44% when a business engages with Swipii which is amazing.

Our co-founders Louis Schena and Chitresh Sharma initially created the loyalty card service to increase customer loyalty for their favourite nightclubs. The concept soon expanded into the retail sector as the founders uncovered a massive opportunity in the local retail sector, because there was no real facility for data collection and no understanding of customer behaviour. Four years on and Swipii is a multi award winning customer loyalty CRM within the UK with over 43 valued staff members.

What are your core values and mission?

Did you know that it costs 500% more for a business to acquire new customers than it does to retain their current ones? And 50-60% of customers never return after their first visit? This is why focusing on customer loyalty is crucial to the vitality of small businesses.

Swipii wants to give the power of systems such as Tesco's Clubcard to small and medium sized retail businesses at a price that delivers a better ROI (return on investment) and significantly increases revenue for their business. Our mission is to educate small business owners and to become the ultimate Plug & Play loyalty and marketing CRM for brick & mortar businesses.

Why did you choose to work with Epos Now?

Epos Now is the leader in cloud POS, trusted by over 30,000 businesses within the retail and hospitality sector. Swipii are the UK’s #1 Customer Loyalty and Marketing platform and it felt like a natural progression to collaborate with another industry leading service.

Epos Now integration is a true step forward in terms of customer loyalty and CRM technology for small and enterprise businesses. It completely closes the loop on points per pound spent while sharing valuable insight like basket expenditure on top of visit patterns. With already over 2000+ merchants and 2 million+ users, the Epos Now partnership is great confirmation of showing value to both B2B and B2C customers while continuing to grow rapidly across the UK.

What are your predictions for the future of loyalty and customer retention apps?

In a typical business, the most loyal 20% of a customer base drives 80% of the business’ revenue. That’s something small independent businesses can’t ignore especially when they are competing with the high street giants. Customer service and customer loyalty go hand in hand on the high street and data collection enables businesses to continue the conversation with their customers after they have walked out the door.

Consumers love to be rewarded for their loyalty; loyalty cards have been around since the late 1950s. However, one of the largest complaints that consumers have is that they have multiple plastic loyalty cards that fill their wallets and paper cards get tarnished very easily. Using one single loyalty card and app for multiple businesses completely eradicates this issue for consumers.

Swipii are actively working on top secret ideas on how to expand the uses and integrations of our loyalty system into the daily activities that a consumer undertakes. We have recently launched our WiFi marketing platform called SWi-Fii which provides businesses with an additional way to capture customer data through their existing WiFi network. SWi-Fii then enables you to follow up with targeted marketing offers and promotions that helps to bring customers back more often and drive long term loyalty.

Do you have any advice for businesses?

We see lots of small businesses posting on social media with ‘new customer only’ advertisements. It’s great to see that business owners are taking the initiative to advertise their services online. However, the cost of acquiring a new customer is 500% greater than it takes to retain a current customer.

Businesses should start by investing that cost in retaining their current customer base by working with a recognised customer loyalty platform to encourage customers to purchase more often. Did we mention that 80% of a business's revenue is generated by 20% of their most loyal customers and businesses are 60-70% more likely to successfully upsell to a loyal customer? Our advice would be to focus on growing your loyal customer base to increase your revenue before aggressively marketing towards new customers.
