A cornerstone of Norfolk culture
For over 250 years, the Norfolk and Norwich Festival has been at the forefront of culture and community across the region, bringing creativity and opportunity into schools and “cultural cold spots”, as well as putting on a festival each May that attracts between 60,000 and 80,000 attendees.
But putting on this spectacle and maintaining this crucial outreach isn’t easy. N&N Festival Head of Communications & Development, Darren Cross, tells us: “We get core funding from the Arts Council on a three-year cycle, and we get a little from the two local authorities, but it's pretty small. Our funding picture has been at a standstill in terms of our income for the last 10 to 12 years. So while costs are increasing, we're getting almost identical funding to a dozen years ago.”

Much-needed funding for the future
Jonathan Crinnion, Epos Now’s head of Onboarding, knows how critical fundraising is to helping the N&N Festival achieve its goals. He explains, “Our goal at Epos Now is to help the festival make as much money as possible over the two weeks, and we try to do all we can to help them increase turnover. That's what pays for the festival next year, after all.”

But it’s not just the festival. Darren has a long list of channels the funds go to. “They deliver artist residencies in school and start grassroots projects in small towns and communities, which are showcased at the festival every year. They fund bold new work and allow the festival to present some of the brightest international talent.”
Plus, with subsidised tickets for 18-25 year-olds, N&N Festival exposes young people across East Anglia to new culture, inspiring new creativity.
With 2025’s festival about to kick off, the Norfolk and Norwich Festival’s future looks bright, with the promise of Epos Now Giving helping them protect the future of the Festival!
