KDS timer displays order sent time

As part of the ongoing effort to improve the efficiency of the way hospitality businesses operate. We are going through adding enhancements to our KDS software.

Prior to this update the KDS was showing the total time the order had been open. After customer feedback, we’ve now updated to show the time since the order was sent to the kitchen. This timer combined with the customisable colour coding showing the order status, and quickly gives the kitchen staff the ability to spot orders that are taking longer than expected to be prepared.

New KDS orders appear from the right

As part of the ongoing KDS improvements, we have enhanced the logic used for where orders appear on the KDS. All new orders will now appear at the right-hand side of the screen and all recalled orders will now appear at the front of the list (On the left) as a priority order.

KDS tickets now display ‘Started at’ time

With the KDS logic change showing the time since an order arrived in the kitchen rather than the total time, the table has been open. We wanted to add the ‘started at’ time to the KDS ticket to ensure that this information is not lost for the kitchen staff.

Shift Duration visible on Staff Names

You asked and we listened! As part of our commitment to making best in class staff experiences, we have added in the current shift duration on the Staff login page on the Till. This way managers and staff can easily see who is in, who isn’t working, who may have forgotten to clock out, and who is due to end their shift soon without having to check the schedule.

Improved payment screen on mobile devices

As an additional step towards improving the payment screen of our mobile devices, we are introducing a collapsable tender detail UI. This way the payment screen fits in one screen, and users do not need to scroll through the page to find the tender button.
