Epos Now 2.96 Release Notes

We have improved the speed of processing transactions and the general responsiveness of the till. By only loading background data such as orders and previous sales data when they are accessed. Performance improvements will be noticeable when:

  • On the initial loading of the Till
  • When sending an order though, opening an existing order, putting an order on hold, resuming an order
  • When opening any of the following order tabs (held, ordered, pending, paid, complete)
  • When prompting the payment of a transaction

To further benefit from performance improvement we have also changed the way in which we paginate orders. Before this change, orders would be displayed on a very long in one page. We have now limited the number of orders displayed to 20 on one page and added a filter to the top to select which orders shall be displayed by whichever Staff member.

We have listened to the feedback from our Epos Now Community and our service teams and have taken the decision to extend the timer on the recently introduced change prompt from 15 to 30 seconds.

Support center QR code v3

We realise that the experience of accessing the support centre on our mobile devices had to be different than the one on desktop devices. On desktop devices, you are able to split the screen and visualize at the same time the support center as well as the Till app. Since on mobile devices this isn’t possible, we have implemented a QR code, that once scanned with a smartphone will allow users to read the support center article while at the same time executing the instructions they are reading live on their device.

  • Improved consumer journey - reducing the number of steps, pages, and clicks from landing on the consumer app to placing an order
  • Updated venue landing page design - The order type buttons now display all additional information (such as prep time, delivery time, minimum order value and delivery fees), instead of needing to be expanded, so the user only clicks the button once to be taken to the menu
  • The social media icons now only display if there are URLs attached to them
  • New quick add ‘+’ button on menu page for relevant items
  • Ability for user to add an item straight to the cart with one click if there is only one pricing option for that item and no preferences or extras
  • Updated item page design - ability to fully customise the item on one page
  • If there is more than one pricing option the top price will automatically be selected when the item detail page opens
  • All preferences and extras are now displayed on the item page, instead of on separate pages that the user needs to click through
  • The allergen button has moved to the right-hand side of extra items
  • The user will be able to increase the quantity of the item on the one page
  • The user will see the total price of the item(s) on that page
  • When the user clicks the ‘Add to cart button they are taken back to the menu - there is no longer the additional item confirmation page before the item is added to the cart
  • New warning message to alert consumers that they will lose the items in their cart if they leave the menu and go back to the venue landing page
  • Updated Checkout page to reduce clicks and increase the visibility of the information
  • The drawers to select venue area, select collection time, enter the delivery address and select delivery time automatically pop up for the user if the required information is missing
  • This information is saved if the user returns to the menu page or places another order within the following 60 minutes
  • New accordion for the price breakdown which displays the total price when minimised and can be expanded to display the total items price, discount applied, tip, delivery and service charges, and total tax

With our continued efforts to improve our KDS we have made some speed improvements on the way tickets are handled on the KDS screen. We are now able to handle a greater number of orders on screen at once. 

Customers with more than one KDS screen were reporting previously completed orders popping back up. In this release we have a fix for the most common cause of these ‘Phantom Orders’ which should resolve the issue for almost all users!

We have fixed a bug that we identified shortly after the previous release.

When viewing the Back Office Home Page from a till device, primarily Windows devices, there were some issues with the general content spacing. Also, the text strikethrough on the new graph data toggle was not working accordingly.

We are happy to confirm that this has been fixed in this release.

One of the most requested features for the KDS is now here! We have just implemented audio alerts on the KDS for new orders and updated orders. Coming soon we have new prompts and logic for voided items to further improve the quality of the KDS software.

What is the Google / Facebook integration powered by NearSt?

NearSt gives customers looking up your business on Google or Facebook the ability to see what you have in stock directly in search results, driving incremental footfall and sales.

This gives a close to live view driven by the stock and barcode values in Epos Now and drives sales in-store. NearSt had a database full of rich descriptions that will automatically be pulled from the barcode. If they don't use barcodes then it can take the information and images from Epos Now. NearSt will hold the business's hand through the entire process which is incredibly easy.

What is Epos Now Delivery?

Epos Now Delivery powered by Deliverect is a delivery aggregator that brings all major ordering platforms (inc UberEats, Deliveroo, JustEat) into one central location. Epos Now will then automatically print the orders and push them to KDS. Orders will automatically close and report orders within your back office.
